Thank you, Juliana, Genny and Islandsparrow! And would you believe it, two days ago when I was out for a walk I heard red-winged blackbirds, then spotted four or five in a tree. Lo and behold, they have returned for spring - to a world of white! (This bird isn't one of those.)
