The first Monday of August is a legal holiday to be observed as "British Columbia Day."
So says the "British Columbia Day Act," passed in 1996. British Columbians approve!
If all goes according to plan, we’ll be celebrating B.C. Day this year in Hazelton B.C., one of the prettiest towns in the province. It’s where I got my first teaching job and I lived there for two years, teaching Grades 1&2 in South Hazelton, and Grade 7 in Hazelton, while my residence was in New Hazeton (called by the locals South Town, Old Town and New Town). Hubby has never been there, and I’m itching to go back.
Other places we will visit on our traveling holiday: Barkerville, Prince George, Vanderhoof, Telkwa, Smithers, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Burns Lake, Williams Lake and Lillooet.
Now to celebrate B.C. Day yourself, check out this British Columbia Photo Gallery. From the main link, choose a category (Landscapes, Nature, Recreation, Attractions etc. along top bar), enlarge your screen, and proceed using the arrows at the bottom of the photos. Enjoy!
